About me

Hi!

I’m y0y0, a self taught artist and designer, born in Croatia and based in the Czech Republic for the last decade. I grew up on a literal border: geographically, culturally, and emotionally. I’ve always felt that the space between things is where the most interesting ideas are born.

Art has been with me since childhood. My early years were shaped by war and loss, experiences that taught me resilience. Creating art became my refuge and my way to process the world. I never went to art school, circumstances didn’t allow it, but I was always creating - ink drawings with rapidographs I inherited from my dad, acrylics and oils, digital illustration, vector art, laser cut wooden lamps, and now layered papercut artwork. My practice has always evolved out of curiosity, necessity, and the need to express worlds I can’t put into common language.

I’ve always belonged more to the margins than the mainstream: the subcultures, the DIY scenes, the people who find art by accident rather than through perfect white walls. Techno, rock and psychedelic culture, meditation, altered states, and spiritual exploration shaped how I see reality. And they continue to shape my work. For me, creativity is both a healing tool and a doorway.

I’ve exhibited my work in various cultural spaces in Croatia in the past.
A part of my journey also took me deep into the Peruvian jungle in 2010, where I spent a few months as a resident artist in a shamanic center - painting, learning, observing, and absorbing experiences that still shape my perspective today.

Some of the expos my work was presented at:
2008, solo exhibition, Voodoo, Osijek, Croatia
2009, solo exhibition, Druga Scena, Osijek, Croatia
2010, solo exhibition, Palach, Rijeka, Croatia
2025, group exhibition, Open Art Fest, Prague, Czech Republic

Most of my earlier pieces live in private collections around the world, found by people who resonated with them in their own unexpected ways. And that’s the kind of connection I value most.

After moving to the Czech Republic, my focus shifted. From 2014 onwards, I dedicated myself almost entirely to a design project creating wooden shadow lamps under the name Pranaya Design. My lamps were featured across multiple international design platforms and found their way into homes around the world.

After becoming a mother in 2021, I entered introspective period, and over time, a strong impulse to return to free visual expression resurfaced. In 2024, I started experimenting with paper: cutting, layering, and sculpting my own symbolic landscapes.

My recent work centers around the idea 'All is One': our connection with nature, the subconscious landscapes that run under the surface of everyday life, and the fragments of wisdom we find through unconventional paths. Paper has become my favorite medium. It's simple, tactile, humble, yet capable of depth, silence, and a kind of quiet magic.

If my work finds you, whether intentionally or by accident, I hope it can bring something meaningful to your inner world.

I’m open to collaborations, custom projects, and conversations.
